A partnership between Microsoft, the Smithsonian Institute and TakingITGlobal, Shout connects teachers with content, tools, collaboration, and expertise that gets students to take action on global issues.
Every other month Shout hosts a live, interactive web event on an aspect of nature. Leading scientists and environmental experts present real-world issues through downloadable web events.
Cheryl Arnett, a second-grade teacher in Colorado attended a web event with her students regarding the problem of deer overpopulation. After collaborating with the local community, they presented their findings to the Mayor and created a brochure containing recommendations on how to solve the problem.
Classes participating in Shout can connect with others and showcase projects by joining the TakingITGlobal online student community. Teachers can download resources and connect with other teachers on the Microsoft Partners in Learning Shout Community.
The communities are open and active now. The next interactive web event is March 16th at various time throughout the day. Stay tuned here for more details.
